Eng. Sami Abdul Qader Alhashmi

Divisional Director, Infrastructure & Municipal Assets Sector, Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM)

Sami Alhashmi had established and managed the traffic safety unit in ADM in 2009. After that he managed the roads & infrastructure projects design section in 2013 and now he is the Director of infrastructure support Division in the sector of infrastructure & municipal assets. He is a member of Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), and a member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration.

One of his main responsibilities was the development, implementation and management of road safety strategic plan in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

His responsibilities included management, risk assessment and providing the technical and engineering support in the fields of infrastructure design, public realm and road safety. Furthermore, his role involved issuing & unifying the infrastructure design standards and specifications. Eng. Sami also has initiated and implemented the electronic systems of Infrastructure Designs Approvals in 2015 and Infrastructure Materials Approvals in 2016.

Dr. Jamal El Zariff

Dr. Jamal El Zarif has more than 30 years of extensive work experience in the Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure field. He worked on various transportation projects located in Middle Eastern countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Syria and Morocco and in the US. He was also a Lecturer for three years at Beirut Arab University, teaching Transportation Planning and Project Management.  Dr. El Zarif worked as a consultant and managed large-scale projects funded by international organizations such as the WB, UN, EU, and the Arab Funds. Dr. El Zarif has Bachelor Civil Engineering degree and Higher Studies Diploma in Structural Engineering from Beirut Arab University, MBA from the American University of Beirut, and Ph.D. degree in Transportation Engineering from Virginia Tech. He published in several magazines and conferences such as TRB, ITE Journal, ASCE Transportation Journal, ITS Journal, ERTICO and IRF meetings.

Eng. Eiman Alameri

Eiman Alameri has worked in Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) since 2013 in the Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector. She studied Architectural Engineering in United Arab Emirates University. She has been involved in the different disciplines of infrastructure projects designs including storm water, road Geometry, traffic, road safety, lighting and others. She worked in launching the Infrastructure Designs Approvals electronic system. She worked also in unifying Abu Dhabi Infrastructure manuals with all stakeholders being part of the Standards and Specifications Section in ADM. And currently, she’s working in launching the first Public Private Partnership project in ADM for the retrofit of Abu Dhabi Street Lighting.

Dr. Nassra Al Dhaheri

Dr. Nassra Al Dhaheri is the Buildings Design Director at Abu Dhabi General Services “Musanada” with responsibility for leading design management & project management activates for various governmental projects including monumental Infrastructure & roads projects. Prior to joining “Musanada”, Dr. Nassra Al Dhaheri worked as Senior architect at Al Ain municipality .

Dr. Nassra Al Dhaheri received (PhD) in Architecture from University of Newcastle upon Tyne in United kingdom in 2009.

Eng. Khaled Al Madani

Khaled Al Madani is a Lighting Engineer and Project Manager at Abu Dhabi Distribution Company. With over 8 years of experience in the field of road lighting he has been involved in several valuable projects including, road lighting maintenance planning, testing and energy saving.

He has been linked for the past year to Abu Dhabi Municipality as a delegated Project Engineer assisting in the transition of lighting network management from ADDC to ADM.

Florence Lam

Florence Lam BA(Cantab.) MA(Cantab.) MSc CEng FIET FCIBSE FSLL

Florence is an Arup Fellow and Director of Ove Arup & Partners Ltd.  She is based in London and leads Arup’s global lighting design practice.  Her particular expertise in daylight, visual perception and holistic lighting approach play a key role in many of her projects, from museums to airports, bridges to city precincts all over the world.  She was responsible for delivering a range of lighting projects for the London Olympic Games 2012.  In the Middle East region, her current projects include the new Abu Dhabi International Airport, Qasr al-Hosn in Abu Dhabi and the Laban Valley Bridge in Riyadh. 

Florence was named the Lighting Designer of the Year at the UK Lighting Design Awards in 2013. She is also the recipient of the Lighting Award from the Society of Light and Lighting in 2014.

Having attained a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design, a Bachelor of Science in Architecture & Urban Planning and a Master of Science in Architectural Lighting Design Regina decided to commit to her passion and specialise in lighting design which she has excelled at for the last ten years.

Regina’s extraordinary talent and expertise is demonstrated by her comprehensive portfolio of work from public spaces to hotel and residential properties. Project highlights include the DEWA Solar Innovation Centre, Dubai; New York University, Abu Dhabi; Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai; Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Mall of the Emirates, Federal National Assembly Hall, Abu Dhabi and the West Beach Club Dubai to name a few. Thomas Baezinger

Thomas studied industrial electronics followed by an electrical engineering degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Zürich. Soon after obtaining his degree he opened a company in Australia producing lighting control systems. In the mid 90’s he moved back to Switzerland taking over his father’s lighting controls business founded in the late 60’s.

Thomas concentrated on Tunnel Lighting Control Systems and Public Lighting Management Systems from the beginning. With 26 years of experience in the field he is a true expert. He lectured in universities around the globe and presented papers in 27 international conferences.

Thomas has been in the Middle East advising governments in all GCC countries, helping them making our roads safer, energy efficient and reducing operational cost.

Eng. Raffaele Benedetti

Raffaele Benedetti is the Product Manager at AEC ILLUMINAZIONE with responsibility for Product development.

Prior to joining AEC ILLUMINAZIONE, Raffaele Benedetti worked in different companies  as an Electronic System Designer, maturing experience in different market and in international contexts, from biomedical electronic instruments under EBNeuro to power electronic for the Oil and Gas sector, under CEG Elettronica. In the lighting sector from 12  years, he actively participated to the LED lighting revolution in particular in the streetlighting and now he is fully involved in the new revolution driven by the Smart cities development. Raffaele Benedetti received Master Degree in Biomedical Electronic Engineering  from Università di Pisa from 1994 until 2001.

His professional interests focus on Lighting Development and application of new technologies to the lighting. His current projects include product development and R&D on lighting for road tunnels.

He is a member of the italian association of lighting and member of the Italian Electrotechnical Commitee for the Lighting Luminaries, under the IEC organization for the development of technical standards”.
